It's Christmas time!

I can't believe Christmas has come and gone already and the New Year is just around the corner!

This past week I was visiting my family in Arizona. My, what a beautiful state! In between stuffing myself with home-made goodies, we ventured into Utah for a couple of days to stay in a tipi in subfreezing temperatures in order to see Monument Valley. Wow! What a site.

We drove three hours to the tipi site where there was no insulation and one tiny heater. I slept in four layers of clothing underneath four blankets. Here is a picture of my sister to give you an idea of the state we were in while in the tipi. Pictured next to her is Lola who is NOT having it with this weather. As soon as the covers were laid on the bed, she crawled under. Smart dog.

Selfie in front of tipi. (Proof that we made it through that cold night)

Oh, and did I mention we traveled in one car, four people and two dogs? This adorable face was in MY face most of the trip...

But, despite the complaints from the parents (mostly about the freezing cold tipi idea), we made it!

These giant rocks are truly amazing. The pictures don't really do them justice to speak to their magnitude and breadth. The scene is flat, flat and then juts up all of a sudden to these sharp rocks. Just look at it!

I enjoyed relaxing and getting to spend time with the family. We shared many laughs wrapped in cozy blankets and surrounded by snoring dogs. I can't wait to return next year to do some more exploring! Where should the next destination be?

I hope you are having a wonderful Holiday and New Year with family and friends. It is a time to relax and enjoy your surroundings. As most of us are with family and close friends, many great memories are shared during these times. What did you do to celebrate?
